The embedded QR codes were what drove me to purchase this book. The codes for the 6th grade book point to 4th grade videos, though. That takes the fun (for my tween) and the convenience (for me) out of it. If you're just looking for math problems in a workbook format, this book does the job, but if you're specifically buying for QR codes, you'll be disappointed.
I wouldn’t buy this text book if you’re looking for a extensive review and lots of practice. It gives a page worth (about six questions) of review and then moves on to different types of math for every other page. It’s good for a kid who knows the information already and is brushing up. I purchased a review math book for more practice and I’ll use this one for testing. The best thing about it is that it has videos that you can watch online which consist of an actual teacher following through on each problem.
The book itself is nice with advertisement of video instructions. Something I thought would be good for my son, however, the videos are not explained well to kids. They just simply go through the problem, without the step by step explanations of why something is done. It was frustrating for my 6th grader. I'm looking or something else.
I definitely recommend this book (Argo Brothers Math Workbook, Grade 6: Common Core Math Multiple Choice, Daily Math Practice, 2017 Edition) for regular math practice. As expected, the contents is well-organized and should help to improve math skills when used as prescribed (i.e. daily).The corresponding "Free Response" workbook would be a good companion.
A couple big issues...the person explaining the methods on the website is dry as hell and doesn't really explain anything, just solves it. Thankfully I get math and can help my daughter and actually explain. His writing is horrible too. Honestly, if the Argo Prep people want someone to explain and write so that a 6th grader can actually understand or simply read, please hire me! Aside from that issue, there are a ton of typos which makes answering the question impossible and it starts off right on the first page. So if you already have a child who gets frustrated with math, having questions with typos which have no right answer does not help. I'm giving it three stars because if you get past the typos and horrible videos, it has helped me help my daughter in math. Hoping she starts with a leg up next year.
Thank you!One of my favorite publishers for math workbooks for students. I have many of their books and have been consistently pleased with the quality and number of resources they provide. The workbooks include more than enough practice problems for your child to work through during the school year and the book comes along with their online website access. To my knowledge, all of their workbooks come with video explanations on their website. Some instructor reviews question by question making this an essential workbook to have for all parents and teachers. As a parent who has used their books for my kids and continue to do so, I highly recommend this brand.
My daughter is in 5th grade and advanced in math, we are working on 5th grade addition now (which we love), but already looked into 6th grade one in preparation for middle school. So far I like what I see in this book and plan to work on it coming summer.
This workbook has been a great resource for my child and allows a lot of practice for problems that he is learning in school. The workbooks have assessments which is helpful in understanding where your child is in terms of the curriculum. Their website comes with video explanations to problems in the workbook which has also been a very handy tool. High quality paper and overall would recommend to all parents.
